Make sure that your home is secure. Put deadbolts on the
doors and good locks on the windows.

Change the locks when you move into a new place, or if
your keys are stolen or lost.

Make sure your entrances are lit and install a peephole
in your door.

Get to know your neighbours and keep an eye on one others
property.

Inquire with the police if there is a neighbourhood watch
or block parent program in your community.

When a stranger is on your property late at night,
don't go out in the dark looking for him, chances are that he will be
armed and waiting for you. Rather switch on your outside emergency
lights and ensure that you are ready for confrontation. Alert the police
and your neighbours.

You may not be in danger, but it's best to play safe.

do so. If possible take someone with you to keep a look out for you.
Avoid suspect conditions.

your purse getting change, have the money ready when you approach your
vehicle.

When you are driving or parking your car, use common
sense to protect yourself

Park in well lit areas, and lock your car after parking.

Never leave valuables in the car when parked.

If your car breaks down, raise the bonnet and switch on
the hazard lights. Stay inside the car with the windows and doors locked.
Use you cell phone to get help ASAP. If help is offered assess the
situation and if it is not safe, decline the offer and tell the person
that help is on it's way.

Be alert when getting in or out of your car. Have your
keys ready.
